You don't have to keep choosing yourself last.

Your voice deserves to be heard

I help individuals who are healing from trauma learn how to set boundaries, build confidence, and trust themselves more fully. Therapy can be a space where you no longer have to shrink, perform, or second-guess who you are in order to feel safe or accepted.

Support for choosing yourself with courage and care.

Is this you?

Life can be really hard, especially when you’ve learned to survive by being kind, accommodating, or putting others first. Many people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and deeply caring, yet feel worn down by patterns of being misunderstood, taken advantage of, or disconnected from their own needs.

You might resonate with my work if:

Hands holding candle
  • Your niceness has been mistaken for weakness

  • You struggle with people-pleasing or guilt around boundaries

  • You fear disapproval, being misunderstood, or not being worthy of love

  • You want to feel more confident, grounded, and self-assured

  • You have a history of trauma and want to reconnect with who you truly are

You don't have to figure this out alone.

What therapy with me feels like

Clients often describe our work together as calm, validating, and grounding. Therapy is not about fixing you. It is about helping you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make choices that align with your values and needs.

Over time, many clients begin to feel more confident in their decisions, clearer in their boundaries, and more trusting of themselves.

My approach is warm, grounded, and trauma-informed. Together, we work at a pace that feels supportive and respectful, while helping you feel more aligned, confident, and connected to yourself.

My Commitment

Hi, I’m Kim Jones, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and the founder of

K Jones Counseling.

I was drawn to this work through a deep sense of calling and lived experience. I believe healing happens in relationships where you feel safe enough to be fully yourself. My goal is to create a therapeutic space where you feel understood, respected, and supported as you reconnect with who you are beneath survival patterns.

I work with individuals who have been shaped by trauma and are ready to stop abandoning themselves in order to keep the peace. Many of my clients are kind, capable people who are learning that boundaries and confidence do not make them selfish or unlovable.

I often remind clients that sometimes life can feel really hard, but you don’t have to do it alone.

My approach is warm, grounded, and trauma-informed. Together, we work at a pace that feels supportive and respectful, while helping you feel more aligned, confident, and connected to yourself.

My work is trauma-informed and relational, shaped by both professional training and personal lived experience. I draw from attachment-based, experiential, person-centered, DBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed approaches.

Sessions are reflective, educational, and practical. We focus on understanding patterns, building emotional awareness, developing skills for boundaries and regulation, and strengthening self-trust. We move at a pace that honors your nervous system and your lived experience.

My Approach

 SERVICES

Support for showing up for yourself, even when it feels hard.

Individual Therapy for Adults

I offer virtual & in-person therapy for adults in Virginia who are ready to better understand themselves, heal from trauma, and build confidence rooted in self-trust. Sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs. Therapy is a space to slow down, reflect, and practice showing up as yourself without judgment.

Therapy for Kids & Teens

I also work with children and adolescents who may be struggling with the emotional impact of trauma, difficulty expressing themselves, or challenges with confidence, boundaries, and relationships. Kids and teens often communicate stress and overwhelm differently than adults. Therapy provides a supportive space where they can feel safe, understood, and empowered to develop emotional awareness and coping skills in ways that are developmentally appropriate.

I commonly support adults with:

  • Trauma and trauma recovery

  • Boundary setting and people-pleasing

  • Low self-confidence and self-trust

  • Fear of disapproval or being misunderstood

  • Identity exploration and self-alignment

Many of the adults I work with are kind, capable people who have spent a long time putting others first and are ready to learn how to set boundaries, express their needs, and feel more grounded in who they are.

I commonly support kids and teens with:

  • Effects of trauma or stressful life experiences

  • Big emotions, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm

  • Difficulty with self-esteem or confidence

  • Challenges with boundaries, friendships, or family dynamics

  • Identity development and self-expression

Caregiver collaboration is an important part of this work, and I strive to support both the child or teen and their caregivers with clarity, compassion, and respect.

What to expect

  • Sessions held virtually or in-person

  • A warm, calm, and supportive environment

  • Clear communication and collaborative goal setting

  • Respect for your pace, boundaries, and autonomy
