ADHD in Women: Support for Feeling Overwhelmed, Disorganized, and Hard on Yourself

ADHD in women often goes unnoticed for years.

Instead of being recognized, it can look like overthinking, emotional overwhelm, difficulty staying organized, or feeling like you’re constantly falling behind no matter how hard you try.

You may have spent a long time blaming yourself or wondering,
“Why does this feel so much harder for me?”

You’re not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you.

WHAT ADHD CAN LOOK LIKE IN WOMEN

ADHD doesn’t always look like hyperactivity.

For many women, it can feel like:

  • Constant mental overload or racing thoughts

  • Difficulty starting or finishing tasks

  • Feeling disorganized or scattered

  • Struggling with time management or procrastination

  • Emotional sensitivity or feeling easily overwhelmed

  • Forgetting things, even when they matter to you

  • Being hard on yourself for not “keeping up”

Many women I work with describe feeling capable but stuck, motivated but overwhelmed, and exhausted from trying to hold everything together.

A DIFFERENT WAY TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF

Working with ADHD isn’t about forcing yourself into systems that don’t fit.

It’s about learning how your brain works and building supportive, flexible ways to navigate your life.

It’s also about unlearning the self-criticism that often develops after years of feeling like you’re “not doing enough” or “not doing it right.”

HOW THERAPY WITH ME CAN HELP

In our work together, we focus on:

  • Building self-compassion and reducing shame

  • Understanding your patterns without judgment

  • Creating realistic, supportive strategies that actually work for you

  • Strengthening boundaries and protecting your energy

  • Improving emotional regulation and overwhelm

  • Reconnecting with your confidence and self-trust

This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about creating a way of functioning that feels more sustainable and aligned.

YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THERAPY

Our work will be collaborative, supportive, and paced in a way that feels manageable.

You don’t need to come in with everything figured out.

This is a space where you can:

  • Be honest about what’s hard

  • Explore without pressure or judgment

  • Learn tools that actually fit your life

  • Feel supported as you try things differently

If you’ve been telling yourself:

“I should be better at this.”
“Everyone else seems to handle this fine.”
“I just need to try harder.”

There may be more going on beneath the surface.

You don’t have to keep pushing yourself in ways that leave you feeling exhausted or discouraged.

MY APPROACH

My approach is trauma-informed and relational, drawing from attachment-based, experiential, person-centered, DBT, and IFS-informed practices.

I support clients in understanding themselves more deeply while building practical, compassionate ways to navigate daily life.

You don’t have to keep navigating this alone.

If you’re a woman struggling with ADHD symptoms, overwhelm, or self-doubt, therapy can be a space to feel more supported, capable, and grounded.
